Claudia's Bright Ideas

The assignment is to make a professional on-line portfolio, something we would consider using for potential employment, and to experience builing an amature web page.
The benefits of this on-line portfolio is that it is accessable anywhere there is internet, so potential employers can visit your portfolio conveniently.
I liked this experience, except for the slow uploads.
I would use this in the classroom, for students wo make their own digital portfolio of accompishments and assignments or projects.

Elluminate Live!

Today we used Elluminate to conference with Ms. Bree Reynolds, who used to work at HJHS. She is now in Spokane, Wa.

It was cool talking to Bree and she had alot of good information for us, in the way of how to use technology in the classroom, and how to integrate the use of computers with cell phones. She also gave us some information on sites to visit.

2. I liked the distance conferencing, but didn't like that the internet connection was not good.
3. I agree with Bree, that you can use the distance conferencing to learn about issues first hand. Like she said she shared a science topic with her students in Spokane, to students in HJHS.
4. Same as above, I learned that there are applications that allow you to share the computer with the cell phone.
5. I think that is what I will take with me and want to explore, because almost all our upper grade students text, and they continue to because it is against the rules, but if we gave them a reason to text to learn something from the curriculum, that would be cool.

Timeline Project_US Presidents

1. For the timeline project Connie and I were a team. We chose to focus on US Presidents.
Log into free-timeline.com, and create the timeline. Then go to rubistar.com, and create a rubric for your expectations of the students in creating a timeline. To further assess your students knowledge on the given topic, create a quiz at quizstar.com.
2. In creating the timeline it was okay, but now that we need to go back to it, it is hard to retrieve, so I am not fully impressed. we could only get half of our work back. Rubistar and Quizstar were good though, and easy to use.
3. I think I would use the timeline only if I wanted a hard copy submition. I wouls use rubistar and quizstar again.
4. Rating: timeline= 4, rubistar = 7, quizstar = 8.

Slideshare_Teachback

My topic was "How would the teacher implement blogs in the classroom?" Answer the question in the form of a slideshow presentation, and upload to slideshare.net.
Signing in to slideshare was not bad. There were really no challeges there, but i wouldn't say it was fun/or not.
The problem I have so far, is I have successfully uploaded my presentation, but opening it to view is too long, and the program is timing out. So, I'll keep trying.

Okay! I got my slideshare up, but you have to find by user: ED480claudia. Okay? Okay!

slide.com_team presentation

Slide.com

Evaluating Slide.com.
This site gives you options on how to design your slide show presentation. You can choose from preset designs, styles, skins, themes, music/videos, backgrounds, effects, size, and privacy settings.
For this slide I uploaded photos from Flickr (that was the fastest way to add/upload photos), chose the pre-set "Drive In", the style is 8mm, the skin is paparazi, with music, but no changes to theme, background, effects, size, and privacy (although I tried them all).
The software is only user friendly if you upload from a "photobucket". there were lots of useful features, and there were ways to search for features that can be found on line. It is good fro teachers to use to showcase stdents work. We are giving this site a "4" due to the difficulty in uploadng presonal photos.

*Connie's gonna upload the group slide onto my blog!*

1. was the software user friendly? only if you upload photos from an on-line photo software program.
2. Did the software hav extra useful features to enhance your presentation? Yes, alot of features, that ban be overlaped, or used simultaniously.
3. Is the software especially useful for teachers? Yes, to showcase students work!
4. Would you recommend this software to other educators? Yes, I would, with instructions about the photo uplaod.
5. If you had a choice to use this software again for a presentation, would you use it? Yes, but not if photos are loaded from a camera.
6. What overall consensus rating would you give for this software? We gave it a "4", for the reason that we could not get photos off the camera.
